Playa del Urbanova / Saladar

A Birds eye view of Playa del Saladar

You need to travel south from Alicante in order to reach this beach. Playa del Urbanova is also known as Playa del Saladar and this is easily accessed from bus number 27 (Santa Pola bus) and there are plenty of car parking spaces for the intrepid sun worshipper.

The beach itself is 50 metres wide and is 1,600 m long. As this video shows back from the beach are dunes and marshlands. These were formerley an important source of salt and gave the beacch its name - Playa del Saladar.

Confusingly it is also known as Playa de Urbanova. This name comes from the residential area that backs onto this great beach.

This beach has a different feel to the Alicante City beach. It is more relaxed and chilled out with plenty of magnificent views of Alicante. This beach doesn't tend to attract many tourists purely because it isn't that well known, despite its size.

Be aware that some parts of the beach caters for nudists.

It continues until it reaches the area known as Los Arenales Del Sol.
