Located on the Costa Blanca, the airport known as Alicante Airport is in the area of El Altet. Which is approx 9 KM from Alicante centre. The airport occupies nearly 300 hectares and the current facilities are being expanded to handle the increase in passengers.

The Airport has two terminals. Terminal 2 is the latest addition to the airport, opening in 2008. In 2007, Terminal 1 of Alicante Airport alone handled 9,120,819 customers, an increase of 2.6% on 2006. These travellers arrive from all over the world and Terminal 2 has opened in order to handle the increasing number of passengers and to meet their requirements. The airport is extremely busy over the summer months, when the promise of hot sunshine, lazy beaches and sizzling cocktails pull in the tourists!

The Airport is pleasant, clean and comfortable. Compared to some British Airports, it is obviously small. However, I have always found the staff friendly and willing to assist should you need it.

The Airport is conveniently situated next to the main roads the A7, A31 and the N340. Once you have collected your baggage you will find that in a few minutes you can be on these roads, making your way North or South, exploring the delights of Spain.

Please note, if you are travelling North on the motorway from Alicante (if for example you are travelling towards Valencia) the following information is relevant to you.

Many of the junctions between Alicante and Benidorm have had their numbers changed and may not correspond to your map. Our tip is to stay on the AP7 for Valencia and you will be fine! Your exit will be clearly signposted, it is just the numbers that have changed!

Organising your transfer is extremely important to ensure your holiday starts off on the right foot!
