Playa de San Juan

San Juan Beach

Playa de San Juan is a wonderful beach that lies approx 10 km to the north of Alicante. Wider and longer than Playa del Postiguet (Alicante City beach), but just as beautiful, it is a magnet for hundreds of tourists every day during the tourist season. It is 7 km long and 85 m wide and it starts where the Coves of Cabo de las Huertas end and it finishes when Muchavista (Mutxavista) beach starts.

San Juan Beach

You can reach the San Juan beach by taking the tram from Alicante. The tram runs from Alicante City Centre, in fact you can catch it from Playa del Postiguet and it stops right by the beach. If you are driving there are lots of parking spaces along the front and if these are full it is possible to find a space a short way from the beach. If catching the bus you will need numbers 21 or 22.

TIP: If catching the tram from Alicante try and sit on the right hand side so that you can take in the stunning scenery of the Costa Blanca coastline.

If you are travelling with children you can be assured that there are plenty of restaurants, cafes and facilities for them at the beach.

San Juan Beach

There are some lovely hotels around the beach and so if you are considering staying here rather than just visiting then there are plenty of lovely hotels to choose from in this district of Alicante, the beach would be on your doorstep, a large amount of restaurants to choose from, bars, nightlife, excellent transport facilities into Alicante City and there is a well regarded golf course near by.

What is there to do at Playa de San Juan?

Sunbathe is the obvious 'activity' with this beach attracting good breeze, you need to be careful of burning, and there is such a large area of sand that this beach has plenty of room to play with your children, there is also a large climbing frame for them. There are water sports on offer and the water is clean and safe. Running alongside the beach is what we would term a promenade, here people stroll or there are even a few joggers.

The market in the San Juan town is on a Saturday morning
